Virginia Noreen Premo, 87, passed away on Wednesday, April 11th, 2012 at Marias Medical Center of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 16, at Whitted Funeral Chapel in Shelby with burial to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, April 15, from 5-7 p.m. at the Whitted Funeral Chapel with family will be receiving friends during that time. Condolences may be posted at www.whittedfuneralchapel.com.
Virginia was born on the family homestead in Burke County near Powers Lake, ND on December 16, 1924 to Joseph and Murriel Bykonen. She and Edward Premo were married on October 27, 1941 in Plentywood and residing between North Dakota and Montana until settling in Kevin, MT in 1947. They moved to Shelby in 1963. Virginia worked at the Toole County Hospital from 1958 until 1983 as a nurse’s aide and then as a surgical nurse, retiring after 25 years. Virginia and Edward celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2011 celebrating with family and friends. It was a very special two day occasion for Virginia and Ed.
Virginia was a member of First Baptist Church in Shelby and then of Living Faith Baptist Church in Shelby.
She was the last living aunt for her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Edward; son, Clifton (Karlin) Premo of Puyallup, WA; son, Larry Premo of Shelby; daughter, Sheila (Ernie) Gonzalez of Shelby; seven grandchildren: Kimberly (Darrell) Moffett of Kerrville, TX; Toynette (Doug) Foster of Anchorage, AK; Tara (Dave) Craig of Anchorage, AK; Shelly Habets of Billings, MT; Dougie Premo of Helena, MT; Greg (Rochelle) Premo of Buckley, WA; Robert Premo of Huntsville, AL; as well as 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Virginia was a devoted wife, unconditionally loved her children, unselfishly gave to all her family all the love and support that one person could ever give. We love you and will miss you so much wife, mother, and grandmother, Virginia.
Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice per Virginia’s wishes. The family will donate any memorials to the Living Faith Baptist Church building fund.
