Walter Alden Rossman, 85, retired oilfield rig operator went to the Great Oil Patch on September 17, 2013. His memorial service with military honors will be at the Cut Bank Moose Lodge on September 28 beginning at 2:00 pm.
Walt was born to Gus and Rose (Christopherson) Rossman on January 12, 1928 in Rolla, North Dakota. He moved to Cut Bank as a young man with his parents, brothers and sisters where he attended school.
He joined the Army during the Korean Conflict. When he returned he worked at the Union Oil Refinery, Taylor Oil Well Service, and then worked for General Well Service until his retirement.
He met and married Odna Augare on May 25, 1959. They were married for 54 years.
Walt enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping in their Honey-Bee motor home.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Odna; sons, Wayne (Pam) Rossman of Marysville, WA, and Rodger Rossman of Albuquerque, NM; stepsons, Don Flammond of Helena, Bernie Flammond of Great Falls, and Randy (Carol) Flammond of Cut Bank; two grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild due any time. Walt is also survived by brothers, Fred Rossman of Denver, CO and Ray Rossman of Big Oak Flat, CA, and his partner in crime, Ko-Ko. Walt was predeceased in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one step-granddaughter, one step-great-granddaughter, six sisters-in-law, and four brothers-in-law.
