William “Bill” Joseph Byrne, 84, a farmer, machinist and welder from Oilmont, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012, at the Marias Care Center. Memorial Mass will be 11:00 am, Friday, March 16, at St. William Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. Whitted Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his sons, William (Ruth) Byrne of Cut Bank, Robert (Annette) Byrne of Owasso, OK, Charlie (Barb) Byrne of Great Falls and Shawn (Jodi) Byrne of Billings; sister, St Mary Kateri Byrne of Racine, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Russell Byrne, Todd Byrne, Devin Byrne, Kimberly Hartmann, Erika Byrne and Carly Byrne.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Olive; brothers, Robert, Mick and Pat Byrne.
Bill was born Nov. 19, 1927 at Conrad to Joseph & Christine (Moser) Byrne. He was raised in Oilmont where he graduated from High School. He then served with the US Army during WWII.
Bill was a farmer all his life along with being an excellent welder and machinist. He served as the Superintendent for Comanche Drilling in Oilmont for many years until his retirement. He also operated Byrne Machine and Welding until his death.
He was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed working in his shop and spending time with his family.
